Greg Hill Promises to Take WEEI Show to Germany For Patriots Game

Last season, the Buccaneers and Seahawks proved that the NFL can have a big, impressive footprint in Germany. Not only was the game attended by fans from all over the world, but they showed a passion that surprised even Rich Eisen, who called the action for NFL Network. It also turned out to be the most-watched international contest in league history.

That is why the league is going back in 2023. There will be two German games next season. One will feature the New England Patriots. The other will feature the Kansas City Chiefs.

Greg Hill made it clear on his WEEI show Thursday morning that he wants to bring the scene to fans across New England.

“I’m delivering it. International road show,” Hill told the audience. “Pats game in Munich in October. I’m delivering it. That’s it!”

There is no guarantee that the Patriots will be in Munich. That is where the Buccaneers hosted the Seahawks this season. Next season, the NFL will play one game in Munich and another in Berlin.

Hill noted that ideally, the Patriots game will sync up with Oktoberfest –which runs from Saturday, September 16th through Tuesday, October 3rd — in Germany. Those two events colliding could make for an epic backdrop for a sports radio show. Plus, it makes it even more likely the trip could fulfill one of Greg Hill’s dreams for his co-host Jermaine Wiggins.

“I want one thing before I leave this world and that is to see Wiggy in Lederhosen,” Hill joked. “That is why we’re gonna do a road show.”

The NFL revealed five teams that will play games in Europe next season. In addition to the Patriots and Chiefs going to Germany, the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars will all play games in London in 2023.
