Kent Sterling Named Morning Host, Program Director of Bloomington’s Voice

Talk radio veteran Kent Sterling is back in a dual role. The accomplished program director and host has joined WGCL (1370 AM, 98.7 FM) in Bloomington, Indiana as the station’s new program director and morning show host. The Heritage Broadcasting talk station recently relaunched as “Bloomington’s Voice”.

Sterling’s new show will be branded “Sterling in the Morning” and air weekdays from 7a-9a CT. The station will feature additional local content including Tony Katz Today, live from Indianapolis in the 12p-3p time slot, and Glass in the Afternoon from 3p-6p. WGCL will also have news broadcasts from Diane Daily, sports broadcasts from Joe Smith, and its early midday programming hours will be occupied by The Ramsey Show from 9a-12p.

“We are fortunate to work for a company that believes in the power of local radio and is willing to invest accordingly,” said WGCL President/General Manager Brad Holtz. ‘Bloomington’s Voice’ is an affirmation of WGCL’s proud history of service and commitment to the community.”

In Sterling, WGCL adds a programmer and talent with a history of working in a number of top markets and a connection to the local area. Prior to moving to Bloomington, the radio veteran spent time in Indianapolis working at WIBC-FM, 107.5/93.5 The Fan, and CBS Sports 1430. He also enjoyed stops in St. Louis at 101 ESPN, and in Chicago with WGN.

“WGCL has such a rich heritage of serving Bloomington and south-central Indiana,” Sterling said on Monday. “I applied for a job at the station when I was a student at Indiana University. Being astute judges of broadcasting, they understood I was a work in progress. Now I get to come back to Bloomington’s Voice without the rough edges and serve so many listeners. It’s a dream.”
