Joe Rose has been an integral part of WQAM for more than 30 years, and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon. However, Rose reportedly flirted with leaving the station to join FOX Sports 940.
A report from the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson claims Rose was in discussions with FOX Sports 940 to join its daily lineup. Joe Rose currently serves as the color analyst for the Miami Dolphins Radio Network. The Dolphins have moved their broadcasts from Audacy-owned WQAM to iHeartMedia’s FOX Sports 940 and Big 105.9.
Rose’s partner for Dolphins broadcast is Jimmy Cefalo, who previously hosted the morning show at iHeartMedia’s Miami news/talk station WIOD.
FOX Sports 940 currently carries the entire syndicated lineup from FOX Sports Radio.
Additionally, the report from Jackson claims iHeartMedia Miami is paying the Dolphins “in the neighborhood” of $3 million per season for the radio broadcast rights to the franchise. WQAM reportedly offered “well below that” price.
