Craig Carton and Evan Roberts are admittedly fans of YES Network’s Ryan Ruocco.
On Wednesday’s edition of Carton & Roberts on WFAN, both Craig and Evan said they thought the future was bright for Ruocco.
“Ryan Ruocco is the future of YES Network,” Carton said. “That is the future face and voice of the great New York Yankees – unless I decide to take the job. But that is the guy.”
“Ryan’s tremendous,” Roberts responded. “I’m a big Ryan guy.”
In terms of top broadcasting jobs at YES, the Yankees and Brooklyn Nets are it. Carton suggested that with Kay being older than Ian Eagle, Ruocco would likely end up the voice of the Yankees first. Roberts disagreed.
“I don’t think it has to do with age,” he said.
Roberts said it was likely Ian Eagle moves up the ladder at CBS and leaves the Nets job eventually. Eagle is taking over as the voice of the Final Four for Jim Nantz after this season. He added that Eagle would have to wait a little while if he wanted to be number one at CBS for both NFL and the PGA Tour.
“Nantz wants to call 50 Masters,” Carton said. “The Masters is one of those tournaments where the older you are, the more distinguished you appear and sound. And The Masters loves that.”
