SiriusXM has unveiled its coverage plans for a pair of athletic events centered around HBCUs.
On Saturday, February 18th, Grambling State will face Southern University in a SWAC matchup in the NBA HBCU Classic as part of the NBA All-Star Game festivities from Salt Lake City.
The game will be broadcast on SiriusXM NBA Radio, with Paul Jones working as the play-by-play announcer. NBA Today host Eddie Johnson will serve as the broadcast’s analyst, and former NBA front office executive Amin Elhassan will work the sidelines.
The NBA HBCU Classic was developed by the NBA as part of its ongoing commitment to the HBCU community – specifically around professional development, career advancement, and increased support and awareness for HBCU athletics and institutions.
Additionally, SiriusXM will air the HBCU Legacy Bowl on Saturday, February 25th at 4:00 PM. The postseason all-star game features the best draft-eligible prospects from HBCU programs.
SiriusXM NFL Radio and SiriusXM College Sports Radio will each broadcast the game, with Jackson State play-by-play voice Rob Jay calling the action. He will be joined by new Jackson State head coach T.C. Taylor and former NFL defensive lineman Anthony Herron on the broadcast.
The broadcast begins at 3:00 PM with an hour-long pregame show, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM. On Friday, February 24th, SiriusXM College Sports Radio will feature an HBCU Legacy Bowl preview show with Jay and Herron beginning at 7:00 PM.
The HBCU Legacy Bowl is part of the week-long celebration of Black culture and history, presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame, to provide valuable exposure for HBCU students.
