After expanding its podcaster audience demographics to include 13 to 17-year-old listeners, Edison Research found much of the same: The Joe Rogan Experience is still the top podcast in the nation.
The Joe Rogan Experience was the top podcast in the fourth quarter of 2022, beating other shows like Crime Junkie, The Daily, This American Life, and Morbid: A True Crime Podcast for the top spot.
The results of the fourth quarter survey show a slight alteration in the top 10 most popular podcasts, as The Ben Shapiro Show from The Daily Wire dropped out of the top five, while My Favorite Murder dropped from 7th to 10th on the list according to Edison.
The top 50 most-listened podcast list from Edison Podcast Metrics is a survey of more than 10,000 podcast listeners over the age of 13.
The Joe Rogan Experience continues to perform well for Spotify, with a reported 11 million listeners per episode on average. A report from Semafor earlier this week claimed Rogan’s relationship with the audio platform has become “frayed” and could lead to his exit. However, Spotify has denied that Rogan’s contract expires in 2023, which refutes a 2020 report from The New York Times that claimed his contract was for three-and-a-half years.
