Ian Rapoport: Aaron Rodgers Has To React To Everything The Media Says

Aaron Rodgers didn’t hold back earlier this week on The Pat McAfee Show when refuting reporting about him by insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.

Rodgers basically shot down the sources Schefter and Rapoport talked to for their reporting, saying no one in his inner circle would talk to those guys.

Rapoport appeared on Tiki & Tierney on WFAN on Thursday and stood behind what he reported about Rodgers and his darkness retreat.

“I would say one of the things with doing what I do, and it’s the same thing for anyone that is pretty public, is you report information and you do the best you can with making sure that it is accurate, timely – you want to be right, and you want to be first to all of that stuff,” Rapoport said. “And whatever happens with the info, I sort of never mind. And I’ve never minded kind of being in the crosshairs of anyone especially when it’s just because of me doing my job.

“I put the info out there. Rodgers can react however he wants to react. I don’t take offense,” Rapoport said. “If I see him I would not be angry. Like to me, it’s all part of it.”

Rapoport said he thinks somewhere along the line that a switch flipped for Rodgers. Now if Aaron feels like there’s something incorrect being reported about him or on other subjects, he’s going to call it out.

“He’s very attentive and interested in what media says,” Rapoport said. “And at some point in his career – probably two or three years ago but real, real late in his career – he went from being like, ‘yeah I don’t care what the media says’ to ‘I’m gonna respond’. And once he decided to respond, he responds to everything.”

Rapoport said now that pandora’s box has been opened, there’s no going back in this mindset and attitude for Aaron Rodgers.

“Once you start going at the media or basically counterpointing them, you really can’t stop,” he said. “So if you’re gonna do it on one thing, you kind of got to do it on everything. And that’s where he finds himself as sort of like one of the athlete world’s foremost media critics.”

“Whether it’s sports or certainly politics or health-related, vaccine-related, I don’t know that he can handle it,” Rapoport added. “But I do know he reacts to everything. And that is the way that he’s chosen to be.”
