One of the most popular NFL offseason rumors is the New York Jets reportedly coveting Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, WFAN midday host Tiki Barber believes Rodgers might struggle with the New York media.
Barber’s comments came during Tiki & Tierney Thursday, where he discussed the comments made by Rodgers during The Pat McAfee Show, saying that NFL insiders like Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport “don’t know shit about me” after he refuted their reporting surrounding his “darkness retreat”.
“As I’m reading the full quotes from his Pat McAfee weekly appearance, talking about Schefter, talking about Rapoport,” said Barber. “Basically saying, ‘nobody knows what’s going on with me except for me, and stop talking about me.’ It just made me start to realize that if he is that sensitive that he gets upset that people, reporters, opinion-makers, influencers, whoever, want to talk about him.
“He is going to struggle in New York, and I don’t know if it’s the right fit for him. I don’t know if I want him in New York if this is going to be his reaction to things that don’t matter.”
Barber continued by saying if Rodgers doesn’t want NFL reporters to discuss him, going onto McAfee’s show to discuss what he is doing in his personal life doesn’t help the matter, before adding that those things would happen much more frequently if he came to New York.
“For him to get offended by that, he’s not going to handle the intensity of the New York mediascape,” concluded Barber. “That’s obviously traditional media, social, and everything else. I don’t know if I want him here ’cause it’s going to turn into a quick pain in the ass of Aaron Rodgers as thin as that – that shallow, that he’s taking shots at Ian Rapoport.”
