Los Angeles Kings television play-by-play announcer Alex Faust is reportedly joining Apple TV+ as one of the streaming platform’s Friday Night Baseball voices.
The 34-year-old Faust will be paired with Colorado Rockies analyst Ryan Spilborghs as Apple’s second broadcast crew, according to a report from The New York Post.
After joining the Kings’ television crew after the retirement of the legendary Bob Miller, Faust has sporadically announced baseball for FOX Sports and NESN. He has also worked as a college football and basketball announcer for FOX Sports.
Faust notably rose to national prominence after former Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek listed him as one of two potential successors as host during a 2018 interview with TMZ.
The news of Faust serving as the second play-by-play voice for Friday Night Baseball comes on the heels of the revelation that analyst Katie Nolan and play-by-play announcer Melanie Newman wouldn’t return to the broadcast booths in 2023 for Apple.
Apple reportedly has tabbed Wayne Randazzo to serve as its primary game caller in 2023, after he departed the New York Mets radio booth for a position with the Los Angeles Angeles television broadcast. He is slated to be joined by Dontrelle Willis.
