WFAN morning team Boomer & Gio recently announced they would be putting on a live, uncensored stage show in April, but over on the afternoon show Carton & Roberts, Craig Carton doesn’t anticipate being there to support his colleagues.
On Friday’s show, co-host Evan Roberts mentioned he had received an invite to the show via text message, but he was trying to figure out if his schedule would allow him to attend.
Carton said he would help spread the word about the show, but he also wondered why he would attend since Esiason and Giannotti have not come out to support similar endeavors for their show.
“I’ll be totally supportive of it,” he said. “We’ve done eight comedy shows for charity. How many have they come to?”
“I’ll promote it, but I can’t make it,” Carton added. “Yeah, I won’t be there. I can just turn on the show in the morning and listen to it.”
Roberts thought it was more for mature audiences, so it wouldn’t exactly be the same type of show you’d typically hear in the mornings.
Carton suggested being paid five thousand dollars as an appearance fee would be enough incentive for him to attend the event in Jersey City. Roberts said what if they recognized Carton at some point during the show from the audience, but Craig said the money was more important.
“I don’t need that. I need five thousand dollars. Five thousand dollars and I’d show up for half an hour,” Carton said. “But the problem is that then I would steal all their thunder. It’d be about me, and I respect that they’re doing it for Boomer’s foundation which I’m a huge supporter of.
“If I show up I take all the oxygen out of the room,” Carton later added.
