Daily Wire host Michael Knowles on a podcast, addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks on transgenderism at CPAC. Knowles clarified that his comments were not intended to target individuals who identify as transgender but rather to criticize the concept of transgenderism in public life. He accused media outlets of purposely distorting his statements and spreading falsehoods about him.
Knowles explained that his comments reflected a commonly accepted view until recently and that he was merely pointing out the differences between men and women. He argued that the conservative position of accepting transgenderism in adults but not in children misses the broader issue. Knowles claimed that denying the true nature of children would be cruel.
“I was giving a speech on the main stage,” Knowles began. “I said something that I’ve said for many years and that everybody in the country agreed on until about five minutes ago. And I said that men and women are different, and we shouldn’t pretend otherwise for public life.”
Knowles emphasized that he did not call for eradicating trans people and that his language was precise. He compared it to treating a medical condition without desiring to eliminate the patients. He accused editors of intentionally misleading their audiences with erroneous headlines and claimed they acted maliciously to defame him. Finally, Knowles suggested that accepting transgenderism in adults but not children is a losing strategy for conservatives.
Knowles is also an opinion columnist and a speaker at college campuses via Young America’s Foundation, in addition to hosting his daily podcast. In 2017, he achieved best-selling status on Amazon with his book “Reasons to Vote for Democrats: A Comprehensive Guide,” which contained only chapter headings and 266 blank pages.
