Fox News has announced changes in its senior editorial leadership following the sudden passing of Senior VP of News & Politics Alan Komissaroff in January. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in a memo addressed to staff on Wednesday, CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace outlined the company’s upcoming changes and acknowledged the impact of their colleague’s loss.
“We miss Alan every day and are still heartbroken by his loss,” the memo read.
Tom Lowell, a 20-year veteran of the channel, has been promoted to Senior Executive VP & Managing Editor for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. He will oversee all editorial content at both channels in his new role. Lowell has led daytime news over the last two years, focusing on issues that impact everyday Americans, and has worked closely with top news anchors. Scott and Wallace praised his superb editorial expertise, which they believe will benefit all programming.
Kim Rosenberg, a 27-year Fox News veteran, has been named Executive VP of News Programming, overseeing all daytime news shows. Rosenberg’s institutional knowledge of the news product and extensive experience as a leading journalist across shows were the reasons for her promotion. She will report to Lowell.
Doug Rohrbeck, Fox’s Senior VP of Washington News and Politics, and Jessica Loker, VP of News and Politics and Senior EP of “Fox News Sunday,” will oversee the channel’s political coverage, including debates and election nights. While Rohrbeck manages news shows from Washington, D.C., Loker works as a Senior EP of “Fox News Sunday.”
The combined experience of Rohrbeck and Loker is seen as a significant asset as the company gears up for the 2024 election season.
The network finds itself in the news cycle due to the Dominion Voting Systems defamation suit and host Tucker Carlson releasing January 6 surveillance footage during his program earlier this month. Scott and Wallace acknowledge this in their memo and state that criticism from competitors, individuals, and organizations with partisan agendas is part of being number one in the news business.
“These changes will continue to solidify FOX News Channel as the category leader in news and the number one network in all of cable, watched by more Democrats and Independents than any of our competitors. We remain focused on the core values of our business — a free press, free expression, and free speech — all of which reflect our unwavering commitment to the people’s right to know, to be informed, and to participate in the marketplace of ideas,” the memo stated.
