SiriusXM host Howard Stern expressed his admiration for comedian Jon Stewart and called for him to run for president. Stern, who had just returned from vacation, said he binge-watched Stewart’s shows while away.
According to Mediate, Stern compared Stewart’s potential political career to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, an actor/comedian turned politician. “Over vacation, I’m watching a ton of this one guy, and I’m watching him debate all kinds of different people. Going back years ago, he was debating Bill O’Reilly… And he came off brilliantly,” Stern said.
“You know he would work his ass off to be a good president. I’m telling you, he could also win cause people like Jon Stewart,” Stern said.
He described Stewart as “so f****ing smart and bright and also witty and measured when he takes on a debate.” Stern’s co-host, Robin Quivers, added that Stewart showcases his care for specific issues through his strong debating skills.
Stern insisted that Stewart would make a great president and even suggested that he could win the election because “people like Jon Stewart.” Quivers pointed out that Stewart had given up The Daily Show because it was too much work, to which Stern replied that Stewart owed it to his country to run.
Stern clarified that he has not spoken with Stewart about running for president. However, his praise for the comedian’s intelligence, wit, and measured approach to the debate was apparent. Only time will tell if Stewart takes Stern’s suggestion to heart and enter the political arena.
