Tony Katz: MSNBC Can’t Pretend It’s Torn On How To Cover Trump Indictment

On Tuesday, some commentators confessed their uncertainty about how to report on the arraignment of Former President Donald Trump, who’s facing felony charges related to hush money payments during the 2016 presidential election.

During his Tony Katz and the Morning News program, WIBC Radio host Tony Katz criticized the rhetoric of some cable news morning shows in the lead-up to Trump’s arraignment and disagreed with MSNBC Political Analyst Elise Jordan’s statement that she was unsure how to cover such an event.

According to Jordan, Trump could have made a virtual court appearance via Zoom, but she suggested that it would not have satisfied his desire for theatrics.

“You’re not torn on how to cover this!” Katz exclaimed. “Thank God he (Trump) is putting on a show. Every media member better get down on their knees and praise Trump’s name for putting on a show, for making this a story.”

Trump entered a plea of not guilty in a New York City court following the indictment of 34 felony counts of first-degree falsifying of business records. Prosecutors have accused Trump of falsifying business records in New York to hide illegal activity and damaging information from American voters before and after the 2016 election.

“They love it; they could cover Trump all day,” added Katz. “Thank goodness that Trump is back and making headlines, and people will watch you again. Don’t act upset; you’re breathless about this, Elise Jordan.”

Katz restated that no former or current president has ever been prosecuted for a crime in the history of the United States. He suggested that the media might express disappointment if Trump did not appear in court wearing handcuffs. He noted Hunter Biden’s legal issues and said he be arrested and prosecuted for his alleged actions.

“If you tell me that Hunter Biden shouldn’t be in cuffs, you’re just doing whataboutism,” he added. “Hunter lied on a federal form to purchase a firearm.”
