Charles Barkley is never shy with an opinion. He told Dan Patrick that is what has made him a star. What has made him respected, is that his opinions have never been clouded by his relationships.
Patrick asked Barkley about the fallout from a recent interview on 60 Minutes in which his relationship with Michael Jordan was brought up. Patrick reminded Barkley that it was on his show that the Inside the NBA star made the comment that Jordan surrounded himself with “yes men” as owner of the Charlotte Hornets. That comment is supposedly what fractured the relationship between the two Hall of Famers.
Barkley said that he still loves Jordan. He called the GOAT’s reaction to his comments “unfortunate,” but said that he still always hopes Jordan is doing well.
“One of the reasons I hate reporters, to be honest with you — guys like Skip Bayless and people like that — you can tell the guys they like and dislike,” Barkley said. “That ain’t right. You should be fair. Just cause me and Michael, we’re great friends, I don’t give him a hall pass.”
Any number of NBA players can say that Charles Barkley has gotten under their skin on TNT. What Barkley says you cannot say is that he targeted anyone unfairly.
“The one thing I’ve been straightforward and honest on anybody I’ve given my opinion with in my 23 years. I never played favorites. There’s nobody that can say ‘Charles don’t like this guy’. I’ve been fair to everybody.”
