How many sports radio hosts can say their governor publicly issued a statement about them? Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio can.
The Raleigh duo was dismissed from 99.9 The Fan on Wednesday and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper noticed.
He took to Twitter to wish Ovies and Giglio well and thank them for the entertainment their show provided.
Roy Cooper has a history with The OG. Ovies and Giglio would join him at the North Carolina Governor’s Mansion every year to discuss Cooper’s NCAA Tournament bracket.
Joe Ovies told BSM earlier this year that Cooper is a die-hard sports fan. He has a particular affinity for the Carolina Hurricanes and his alma mater, UNC.
“Cooper isn’t doing this as some sort of stunt. He legit watches the local teams and he listens to the shows and podcasts.”
