On Friday, FOX Sports 940 in Miami officially becomes the flagship station of the Dolphins. The partnership is going to kick off in a really unfortunate way though.
Dolphins fans tuning in to FOX Sports 940 will not be hearing Miami make its first selections in the NFL Draft thanks to the Miami Marlins.
A planned NFL Draft Happy Hour is set to air on FOX Sports 940 starting at 4 p.m. on Friday. Seth Levit and O.J. McDuffie will host. The show will be live from the Backyard bar in Fort Lauderdale.
Unfortunately, Major League Baseball will take over before the second round of the draft even begins. Pre-game coverage for the Miami Marlins airs at 6:30 p.m. on the iHeartRadio station. The second round of the draft starts at 7.
“So it’s kind of like having a birthday party for somebody, but ending the party before the person celebrating the birthday arrives or before cake is served,” Barry Jackson wrote in The Miami Herald.
The Miami Dolphins announced their move to FOX Sports 940 in January following seven seasons on WQAM. Dolphins fans do not need to fret about the move on Friday night though. They can rest easy knowing that even if the team had stayed with the Audacy-owned station, NFL Draft coverage would have been preempted for the Florida Panthers’ playoff game against the Boston Bruins.
