Rich Eisen: The NFL Draft Should be in Nashville Every 3 Years

The NFL Draft is taking place in Kansas City, and as was evidenced ahead of the first round on Thursday, football fans showed up in full force.

Fans and the league have made the draft a weekend-long festival and celebration of the game. But in Rich Eisen’s eyes, nothing will top when the draft was in Nashville in 2019.

“Nashville should get this event every three years,” Eisen said Thursday on The Pat McAfee Show. “That’s my favorite draft setup and city, other than me being a native New Yorker and doing it in Radio City Music Hall all those years. That was great.”

Over 600,000 people attended the draft that year – a new record. Last year’s draft in Las Vegas drew half that amount according to the NFL. Mike Greenberg said on ESPN Thursday night that 140,000 were in Kansas City for round 1.

“It should be like on a rotation like the Super Bowl,” the NFL Network draft anchor added. “That was nuts.”

Pat had a viral moment of his own at the Nashville Draft when he appeared on stage to announce the Indianapolis Colts’ third-round pick.

Eisen pointed out that it was an opportunity seized for McAfee.

“That was a big part of your ascension to your current role in our world in the sports media business,” he said. “That was epic.”
