Norm Clarke Joins The Sporting Tribune

The Sporting Tribune is welcoming a new columnist to its publication with the addition of Norm Clarke, it announced today.

“Retirement can wait,” Clarke said. “I am indebted to The Sporting Tribune for this exciting opportunity to return to my roots as a sportswriter in the city that is fast becoming the center of the sports world.”

Clarke reported on sports early in his career, covering various Major League Baseball teams with The Associated Press – including the Cincinnati Reds back-to-back World Series championship teams in 1975 and 1976. His reporting became more specialized in 1984 when he made the move to Denver covering the locale’s bid for a Major League Baseball expansion franchise. He was ultimately responsible for breaking the news revealing the addition of the Colorado Rockies to the National League, and he spent nearly 15 years with the publication.

In 1999, Clarke started writing entertainment and gossip news for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, breaking prominent stories such as Britney Spears’ 55-hour marriage.

In his new role, Clarke will remain in the Las Vegas area and join a burgeoning team of reporters and columnists, including Steve Carp, Arash Markazi and W.G. Ramirez. His first column for the outlet – which is dedicated to covering sports in local markets such as Southern California, Las Vegas and Hawaii – debuted on its website this morning.
