WBBM sports anchor Dave Kerner’s decades-long career in radio will soon be over. Kerner announced Friday that he will be retiring effective May 19.
Kerner has been covering Chicago sports since 1997. He originally joined WBBM’s sister station 670 The Score after several years in Buffalo. He joined WBBM as a sports anchor in 2004.
Dave reflected on the many years in the windy city, noting that he had the chance to be in town for championship victories for nearly all of the city’s teams.
Originally born in California, Kerner spent a portion of his childhood growing up in a Chicago suburb where he developed a love for the city’s sports teams. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1980.
