Just days after Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts hit a clutch, game-tying home run on Sunday Night Baseball, Bleacher Report has announced he will take his many talents online.
In partnership with One Marketing Group – a media company Betts had a hand in founding – Bleacher Report will launch On Base with Mookie Betts, an interview-based digital series. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich will be the program’s first guest in an episode set to air Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. EST/9:30 p.m. PST. There will be additional interviews throughout the Major League Baseball season, following a similar model the company embarked on with Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller and The Voncast.
Betts joins a growing faction of current professional athletes making their mark in the world of sports media. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green hosts a podcast through Colin Cowherd’s media venture, The Volume; LeBron James has participated in alternate telecasts on Amazon Prime Video’s presentation of Thursday Night Football; and Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ hosts a player podcast through Jomboy Media titled The Compound just to name a few.
