On Monday, radio host Howie Carr collapsed on the air during an interview with an advertiser. Tuesday, he let listeners know he’s feeling much better.
Carr appeared on The Grace Curley Show to begin the program and felt well enough to joke about the situation.
“I’m doing great. Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated,” Carr quipped. “I’m ok. Don’t pay the ransom, honey, I’ve already escaped. All those other cliches. But yes. I had a stomach bug and I was staying away from everybody ’cause I knew it was bad. Everyone in the family had it, so I knew I would get it. I thought I could get through two hours, but I didn’t even get to the top of the first hour. I just started getting hot, and I thought I could get to 4:00 PM, and I just couldn’t. I fainted or passed out or whatever you want to say…I’m feeling a lot better. I’m here with Roscoe the Pug, he’s a good nurse, and we’re just laying on the couch together. I’m doing a lot better.”
“We all had a little scare here for a little bit,” Curley admitted after saying the outpouring of support was welcomed.
“We have the best audiences…they’re smart, and they’re good, and they’re loyal, and they mean a lot to all of us,” Carr concluded.
On Wednesday, Carr tweeted that he would be returning to the program, but wouldn’t host the entire timeslot just to be safe.
