The media world is once again feeling the effects of an economic downturn, and Jomboy Media is no exception. It was revealed Tuesday that the company, which has been a rising star in the baseball media space over the past several years, is planning to lay off 10% of its current workforce.
Jomboy Media was founded in 2017 by Jimmy O’Brien and Jake Storiale. The company opened a new office in New York City last year and went on a hiring spree, expanding the workforce to over 60 people.
The company also hired Andrew Patterson as CEO in 2022 and received $5 million in funding from Connect Ventures. Several others have invested in Jomboy.
Which positions within the company were eliminated are unknown. Reporting from Sportico indicates that even with the downsizing, Jomboy anticipates an increase in revenue this year.
