Former Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) is joining NewsNation as a political and economic contributor, the network announced.
Mulvaney served as the representative for South Carolina’s 5th district before being confirmed as the director of the Office of Management and Budget. He then served as the White House Chief of Staff from January 2019 through March 2020 for the Trump Administration. He became the Special Envoy for Northern Ireland in 2020 before resigning from the administration after the January 6th Insurrection.
After departing the Trump White House, Mulvaney worked as an on-air contributor for CBS News.
“Mick’s enormous experience in the political sector will make him an incredible resource to viewers,” said NewsNation President of News Michael Corn. “We are excited to welcome him to our growing powerhouse team of political analysts, especially as we enter another important election season.”
“I’m excited to be joining NewsNation. There’s something invigorating about being involved with something new. And not just a new network, but a new approach: focusing on the news, and not the hype,” Mulvaney added. “I’m looking forward to smart, in-depth, and reasonable discussions on the important issues of the day. NewsNation is putting together a team that will be able to do that better than any other outlet.”
In his new role with NewsNation, he will contribute to the network’s new political program The Hill, which is hosted by Leland Vittert and based in Washington D.C.
