Pete Distad, the man in charge of overseeing video and sports business for Apple, is leaving the company.
Bloomberg reported Wednesday that Distad will be departing sometime in May. He had been at Apple since 2013. Previously Distad was involved in marketing and distribution for Hulu.
At Apple, Distad was responsible for the deals with both Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball. The company was a frontrunner to land the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket before backing out, clearing the way for Google and YouTube. Apple has also been linked to discussions with the Pac-12 Conference on a new media rights deal.
Jim DeLorenzo will be promoted to pick up the baton on the sports side at the company. Apple is splitting Distad’s responsibilities.
