Peacock Gets Exclusive NFL Playoff Game This Season

The first-ever streaming-exclusive playoff game will happen in the NFL this season. It will be on Peacock. This will make NBCUniversal the first media company to carry three NFL Playoff games in the same weekend.

The playoffs begin on January 13. The early game that day will be seen on both NBC and Peacock. That night’s game will be the Peacock exclusive.

“We are excited to work with a great partner in Peacock to present the first-ever exclusively live streamed NFL playoff game this upcoming season,” Hans Schroeder, NFL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NFL Media, said in a press release. “Expanding the digital distribution of NFL content while maintaining wide reach for our games continues to be a key priority for the league, and bringing the excitement of an NFL playoff game exclusively to Peacock’s streaming platform is the next step in that strategy.”

Peacock will get some practice with an exclusive game before the postseason. On December 23, the Buffalo Bills’ trip to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers will be the streaming service’s first ever exclusive NFL regular season game.

There has been no announcement about the broadcast crew for either Peacock game.

“We are thrilled to partner with the NFL on this industry milestone, bringing to Peacock the first ever exclusively live streamed NFL Playoff game,” Pete Bevacqua, Chairman of NBC Sports, added. “With America’s No. 1 primetime show for a record 12 consecutive years, the terrific regular season SNF schedule revealed last week, and today’s announcement, we can’t wait for the 2023 season to kick off.”
