Bill O’Reilly: ‘Anticipating Carnage is Absolutely Imperative’ For Media in 2023

Fallout persists from CNN’s town hall event with Donald Trump, as many in the media examine, discuss, and at times argue about how to cover the former president. Former cable news host Bill O’Reilly wonders why media outlets don’t have the foresight to consider blowback before formulating their coverage.

During his O’Reilly Update Morning Edition Tuesday, the former Fox News host argued that CNN was always going to be criticized for giving Trump a platform, regardless of how successful the event was.

“Predictably, CNN continues to get hammered for giving Donald Trump airtime last week,” O’Reilly said.

“CNN would be ridiculed to send a message to any other media organization that might invite Donald Trump to appear. It should have anticipated all of that, but it did not…CNN whacked itself in the head and the bleeding continues. In this brutal political climate, anticipating carnage is absolutely imperative.”

During his criticism of the network, O’Reilly called CNN moderator Kaitlan Collins “a talented broadcaster”, but argued that her line of questioning directed at Trump was a waste of time because the former president was never going to relent on his characterizations that the 2020 election was rigged against him.
