Kelce Brothers Took Advice From Chris Long Before Launching New Heights Podcast

One of the more popular player-hosted podcasts has been the New Heights podcast hosted by brothers and NFL players Jason and Travis Kelce. With Jason in the latter stages of his great career, he wasn’t sure right away if he would do the podcast, but he got some key advice from a former teammate that made him design to go forward.

Jason was a guest recently and he mentioned advice that Long gave him that helped him decide it was the best decision to do the podcast even when he was concerned the podcast would be a distraction to his teammates.

“Some of the biggest questions were what do you think about starting this? Is doing it while I’m playing the right time?” he said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. “When Travis and I were trying to figuring out whether to do it or not, we were meeting with multiple groups, there’s multiple ideas being thrown out of what that could look like…We were kind of under the gun as the season was getting going. I remember your advice to me was do it as you are still playing. You can approach all this stuff, who you are with or how it goes after the fact, but start this while you are still playing, while you are in the middle of a season, while people are going to be interested in hearing.”

Now that the Kelce brothers are doing the show, Jason feels it has allowed him to be more focused on other things happening around the NFL.

“You get to control the message of the team more, you get to control what you want to say more. I actually do think the media narrative, guys hear that, fans hear that. I think that it’s a powerful tool to utilize as a current player. I actually really think it was something good for me and Travis to do that together.”
