Dan Le Batard was a guest on Monday’s edition of the ESPN podcast The Lowe Post with Zach Lowe, and Dan made sure at the end of the interview to give Lowe his flowers for putting together the program.
Lowe’s podcast is among the top 20 sports podcasts overall and consistently one of the most listened to that ESPN has to offer. Le Batard told Zach the following he’s amassed in the basketball community deserves praise and recognition.
The show’s official description is “ESPN’s Zach Lowe talks to various basketball people about various basketball things.” In reality, there is a very specific space the show fills by mixing humor, analytics and on-court stories.
“What you’ve done, I will continue to tell people as I tell them privately and publicly,” Le Batard said. “Carving out a space in a labyrinth of assholery and idiots, where you have something that is uniquely yours – and an audience that follows it – I respect it from over here because it’s worth admiration.”
Dan speaks from experience when talking about the difficulty involved in growing a podcast. He knows that Zach has a ton of sweat equity in his product, and it shows.
“It’s not that easy to do, and I can imagine how hard you have worked on that hustle,” Le Batard said. “Because it couldn’t have happened without your pouring all of your soul into it.”
