What comes next for Shannon Sharpe? It sounds like we are about to find out.
The former Undisputed host took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to tell his followers that he is enjoying life away from the grind of morning television. He added another nugget though. He isn’t getting too comfortable with his new schedule.
What could a return to “TV in the mornings” mean? We obviously have to wait for details.
First Take does fit that description though. Stephen A. Smith has said that he would welcome Shannon Sharpe to join the rotation of opponents he has on the show each week.
Sharpe also fits the profile of the talent hires and re-signings ESPN has made in the midst of layoffs across the Walt Disney Company. He is a high-profile talent that brings a fanbase along with him.
Pat McAfee also fits that profile. He said publicly after news of Sharpe’s FS1 exit broke that he hopes the Pro Football Hall of Famer follows him to ESPN.
While there has been plenty of chatter about ESPN and First Take, there is no guarantee that is where Sharpe will re-emerge on television. It may not even be a sports network that gets his services next. All we can do right now is guess and wait.
This isn’t the first hint Shannon Sharpe has dropped about his future. Earlier this month he tweeted that the audience should “stay tuned for the seeds I’m planting.”
