Miami Herald sports columnist Greg Cote made his regular Tuesday appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz again this week, and Le Batard said seeing his longtime friend always makes him think about what could’ve been.
Dan said he didn’t think the show would’ve aged like it has with Stugotz.
“It makes me see what I imagined 20 years ago,” he said. “I thought I would be hosting this show with Greg Cote, and that would’ve aged very poorly.”
Back in April in an episode of South Beach Sessions, Dan explained that Cote was the first choice to be co-host before Stugotz. But Cote said he turned down the chance because he wanted to be around more during his son Chris’s teenage years.
But back on Tuesday, Dan did joke that it’s not like Stugotz has moved the bar impossibly high.
“It doesn’t age much better with Stugotz,” Le Batard said. “But it is slightly better in that he’s not frightened of the lights or confused and disoriented by someone talking in his ear.”
