Jason Fitz: ‘I’m Thankful For What ESPN Gave Me’

ESPN Radio midday host Jason Fitz was one of many to exit the Worldwide Leader as part of downsizing mandated by The Walt Disney Company last week. He shared his gratitude for his time in Bristol Wednesday.

In a video posted to his social media accounts, Fitz shared his surprise at being let go but added that he was grateful for his time with ESPN.

“I thought today I’d be heading into studio starting another great week of Fitz & Harry. But as most of you know by now, Friday, ESPN parted ways with a ton of incredibly talented people,” said Fitz. “Mostly right now, I’m just thankful. I’m thankful for what ESPN gave me. I’m thankful for the platform I had, and for the amazing people I got to work with behind the scenes and on camera. Thankful for the memories I made. And I’m proud of the work that I did.”

He continued by adding that he strived to remain genuine in his approach, and believes he accomplished that.

“I always tried to do the work, tried to remain kind, and do it all with some level of authenticity. I believe that’s all we can do. And at the end of the day, I got to believe when the dust settles, that’s what will serve me,” he said. “I don’t know what’s next. What I do know, you’ll know but I know in the meantime my fandom of ESPN and everybody I worked with isn’t going anywhere. My friendships aren’t going anywhere. And when I figure out what’s next, I hope you’ll come and hang out with me… I know I’m gonna land somewhere. And when I’m there, I hope you’ll join me.”
