ESPN Monday Night Football broadcaster Joe Buck would love to call some baseball games for a team’s regional sports network, but don’t expect the iconic play-by-play voice to pick up the headset for a national broadcast again.
In an interview with Jason Anderson on 810 WHB last Friday, Buck said he misses calling baseball games, but he wishes he could go back to his days before he worked for FOX.
“I miss doing local baseball. I miss putting on a headset and being the eyes and ears of Cardinal fans, Royal fans, Rangers fans, whatever,” Buck said. “That’s more fun than being Switzerland and getting all the junk that comes with it.”
Joe added that he missed developing that camaraderie with a broadcast partner.
“But calling baseball and having fun, relaxing on the air, and having a partner that you can have fun with, and just taking it chill would be a blast,” Buck said. “But I don’t miss the national stuff.”
Buck had a chance to do a few games for the St. Louis Cardinals this season, but he turned it down saying he didn’t think it was fair to just work a few games and also that he didn’t quite have the itch to get back into baseball.
