ESPN 1000 will be the broadcast home of the Chicago Bears entering the 2023 regular season, but 670 The Score is still bolstering its coverage of the professional football team. The broadcast outlet has inked former Bears center Olin Kreutz to a deal to serve as a football analyst, which was announced to Parkins & Spiegel show on 670 The Score.
“He’s one of the best analysts that I’ve ever talked to in this business, period, in any sport,” show co-host Danny Parkins said. “The guy watches film; he cares [and] he’s honest. He has connections, but he also will talk about the people that he has the connections to, unbelievable stories about his era of Bears football. He makes us all better football fans when we get to hear him talk.”
Kreutz previously worked at CHGO Sports and was fired for grabbing the neck of a colleague. Now, he returns to The Score where he will be a co-host for the Bears pregame and postgame shows, and he will also fill in as a host.
“I’m excited about it,” Kreutz told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I worked with everyone at The Score before, and I enjoy working there. They’ve been supportive through all of this, and I’m excited to work with them again.”
Kreutz was a contributor at 670 The Score, but was taken off the station after he attacked a colleague at another job following an offhand remark. NBC Sports Chicago subsequently removed him from its programming as well due to employees being uncomfortable in his presence. Nearly one year later, he is set to broadcast over the air for the first time since last year while continuing his show, The No Name Football Podcast, with former team fullback Jason McKie.
“I’m trying to do my homework,” Kreutz said. “I try to collect as much information as possible and then just honestly say what I feel, and I know sometimes that can rub a lot of people the wrong way.”
