CBS News Radio has decided to shut down its standalone app and will push users to the main CBS News app.
When users open the app currently, they are greeted with a notification that reads “The CBS News Radio app will no longer be available after July 31. You can download the CBS News App for the latest breaking national news and world news headlines of the day and on the go!”
In the Apple app store, the app has a 2.1-star rating out of 5, with many users complaining about the app constantly crashing and being difficult to navigate.
The announcement comes after a time of upheaval at the network. Earlier this month, CBS News Radio Vice President and General Manager Craig Swagler departed the position after 22 years with the company. He was subsequently named the President and General Manager of Baltimore’s Your Public Radio and its NPR-affiliated station.
Additionally, White House correspondent Steven Portnoy exited the network to rejoin ABC News Radio in a similar capacity.
