Chris Russo Tells Stugotz What to Expect Hosting on WFAN

Dan Le Batard’s co-host Stugotz is going to be filling in for Boomer Esiason on Boomer & Gio on WFAN at the end of this week, and Stugotz sought out some advice from a WFAN legend in Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.

Russo appeared on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz on Monday, and Stugotz first wanted to get some insight into how Gregg Giannotti runs things.

Mad Dog said he wasn’t sure the kind of show Gio runs when Boomer isn’t there, but he knows that Gio is a great person to work with.

“Very good guy,” Russo said. “He was my producer a long time ago on Saturday mornings.”

Stugotz continued to pick Mad Dog’s brain, asking if he should be prepared to be able to break down a theoretical third-inning bunt.

Russo said he likely wouldn’t get into the baseball weeds with Gio, but there will be plenty to discuss with the Yankees playing important games coming up against the Astros and Rays. Mad Dog also pointed out that the Jets will begin the preseason on Thursday night playing in the Hall of Fame Game.

“Those are your two big topics,” Mad Dog said. “The Jets and Yankees this week against Tampa and Houston.”

Russo reassured Stugotz that he will be able to be himself and have a good time working with Gio.

“I would think they would spend a good part of their time having fun,” Russo said. “Early August, football’s still a week or two away, there’s nothing in the other sports. I think that’s perfect for you guys. I think that would be a little bit of a gaggy show. It won’t be anything too specific or serious.”
