An angry comment from a listener gave 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler the opportunity to remind his audience about his lack of interest in social media. However, he noted it helps the show.
During The Von Haessler Doctrine last week, the Atlanta-based host admitted that while producing clips of his programs for Facebook, X, and Instagram helps distribute his show to a wider audience, that doesn’t entice him to join any of them.
A listener claimed that Von Haessler’s show was sounding similar to The Sean Hannity Show. He joked that you can’t even tell the two apart before discussing social media’s role in his show.
“I’ll try to stop paying any attention to social media. You see this is the problem. We recognize we need to get the clips out there because you know, I’m only contracted for another year and a half who knows what the landscapes gonna look like when it’s time for the next go-round on a contract,” Von Haessler admitted.
“So we want to be known by more than what we’re known for now and the internet is the way to do that. But then it sucks me in because I’m not on social media personally, for anything. The show is, but notice, it’s not me.
“I even just had (a producer) respond to that one commenter with ‘Eric has never — Eric von Haessler, personally, is not on any social media sites. None. Not even the artist formerly known as Twitter’. I’m not on any of these sites.”
