In June, Fox News anchor Bret Baier sat down for an extensive interview with former President Donald Trump after being indicted on 37 counts connected to his mishandling of classified documents.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Baier says the former President told him the interview went well for both sides, before ultimately trashing him in a subsequent interview.
“Immediately after the tape stopped, he said that he thought he was strong in the interview. And he said it was tough but fair,” said Baier. “I made sure to get some of that on camera. He has since (said) it was nasty or not nice.”
Trump told Newsmax host Eric Bolling he thought “there was nothing friendly” about the interview with Baier before calling it “nasty”. He later called Fox News “a hostile network” because of Baier’s demeanor during the conversation.
As the 2024 Republican presidential campaign hits full stride, many have questioned if Trump will participate in the first debate scheduled for next week on Fox News. Baier believes its likely the former President will be in attendance.
“It’s hard for me to believe that the former president is going to walk away from that stage,” concluded Baier.
