Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn’t tired of coaching and hasn’t thought about potentially retiring.
But the former Eagles coach told Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio on Wednesday that if he wasn’t coaching, he could probably see himself behind the microphone talking sports on 94 WIP.
“I’d probably ask you for a job so I could hang out with you, man,” Reid said to Douglas, who played for Reid for five seasons. “I’d come try to take Joe’s spot, doggonit Joe.”
“Listen, Andy, if you want it they’re gonna give it to you,” Giglio responded with a laugh.
Joe did extend an open invitation for Andy to join them in studio for an hour during the offseason. Reid joked that with longtime host Angelo Cataldi retired, he just might take them up on the offer. Cataldi was one of Reid’s most staunch critics when Andy was coaching in Philadelphia. Angelo actively rooted against Reid, and refused to participate in a tribute to him when the Chiefs met the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
“Now that Angelo’s retired I probably would do that,” Reid joked.
Douglas chimed in saying the vibe at the station has indeed changed.
“It’s a little different since Angelo’s not here anymore,” he said. “I’m not saying that’s a good or a bad thing. I’m just saying it’s different. It’s different.”
