The Sports Grind continues to expand, adding its first affiliate outside of the state of Texas by reaching a deal with Mile High Sports in Denver, Colo. The afternoon radio show, which broadcasts from 2 to 5 p.m. CST/1 to 4 p.m. MST, is based in San Antonio, Texas and has been on the air for 19 years. Over the year thus far, the program has added stations including FOX Sports Abilene, FOX Sports El Paso and 100.7 The Score in Lubbock and is a popular and compelling listen for sports fans.
This independent radio program is hosted by Calvin Casey and provides an opportunity for the show to discuss a variety of larger sports topics. Now, it will join a lineup featuring Sandy Clough, Shawn Drotar and a bevy of established and credible Colorado sports media personalities.
“I’m excited about this opportunity with Nate Lundy and Mile High Sports as The Sports Grind’s coverage area continues to expand,” Casey said in a statement. “Adding Denver to our coverage with Mile High Sports is also very special to me personally. I’ve been a Broncos fan since 1983 and keep my ears on Denver despite living in Texas, and Mile High Sports is a strong platform.”
The announcement of the news comes weeks before kickoff of the 2023 National Football League regular season, one in which the Denver Broncos hope to make strides towards contending for a Super Bowl championship. Additionally, championship teams reside at Ball Arena within the sprawling metropolis, including the 2022 Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche and 2023 NBA Champion Denver Nuggets. Combined with the burgeoning young core of baseball’s Colorado Rockies, the sports locale should provide plenty of compelling conversation for the program.
“We’re thrilled to have Calvin and his team joining Mile High Sports,” station president Nate Lundy said in a statement. “Calvin’s energy and enthusiasm for the local teams will be a great [complement] to our lineup as we enter the 2023 NFL season.”
