Sid Rosenberg: Curtis Sliwa ‘A Hero’ After Being Arrested for 79th Time

New York City radio host Sid Rosenberg received numerous phone calls on Sunday after news broke of the arrest of his friend and colleague Curtis Sliwa. On his morning show on 77 WABC Radio, Rosenberg defended Sliwa, whom he has known for several years.

“Between all of the guys reaching out on Sunday to wish me a happy National Radio Day and then just a thousand calls saying, ‘Your friend got arrested again,’ I always respond with, CURTIS!” Rosenberg said.

Curtis Sliwa, who hosts an afternoon show on 77 WABC, is also the former Republican nominee for NYC mayor and founder of Guardian Angels. He was arrested on Sunday while protesting outside the Midland Beach Migrant Shelter on Staten Island, which was once a senior citizen’s home. It was the second time in a week he had been arrested protesting immigrants being housed around the city.

“79 arrests and still going strong! My man @curtis. sliwa, a daily 7:10 am guest on @sidandfriends77 on @77wabcradio,” said Rosenberg on Instagram. “Continues to be the backbone and voice of the everyday New Yorker! Curtis is a hero! Let me make this very clear: we DON’T want the ILLEGALS here! Curtis for Mayor!”

“The man is an effing hero,” added Sid Rosenberg. “I say this with zest, enthusiasm, and all heart; we don’t want illegals here. Curtis is the only guy with balls in the city willing to go out there and speak for all of us and ends up getting arrested twice in one week. When you hear people say, ‘Curtis for mayor,’ I’m sorry, that’s exactly how I feel.”
