WPRO’s Gene Valicenti, Chris Camp Inducted to Rhode Island Radio & TV Hall of Fame

A pair of WPRO personalities – -Gene Valicenti and Chris Camp — have been announced as members of the Rhode Island Radio & TV Hall of Fame.

Valicenti has worked in the Ocean State for more than 50 years. He currently hosts The News with Gene Valicenti from 6:00-9:00 AM on the Providence news/talk station. Valicenti also spent time at WJAR-TV in Providence.

Additionally, the station’s Chris Camp is also in the Hall of Fame’s class of 2023. Camp has been a news anchor and reporter for WPRO since 1995. He has won several awards, ranging from the Associated Press Award for Best Radio Newscast and the Rhode Island Press Association Award for Best Radio Reporter.

Other inductees include iHeartMedai Program Director Doug Palmieri, DiPonti Communications Vice President John Parente, and TV anchors and reporter Danielle North, Pam Watts, and Jack White.

The Rhode Island Radio & TV Hall of Fame will induct the class of 2023 at its annual ceremony on Thursday, September 21st. The event will be held at the Crown Plaza Ballroom in Warwick.
