Shannon Sharpe Joins The Volume With Multi-Year Deal

Shannon Sharpe is joining The Volume. The Hall of Famer has reached a deal to bring his podcast, Club Shay Shay, to the platform founded by Colin Cowherd. The transaction also implements Sharpe’s independent media venture, Shay Shay Media, within the content offerings of the network and will produce new programming.

The deal with Sharpe was reached after meetings began the day he announced his departure from Undisputed on FS1. Conversations lasted for several weeks, and Sharpe was weighing various offers before he agreed to the multi-year deal with The Volume. The contract ensures that he will have revenue sharing on his podcast and others in the future according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’m excited to partner with my friend Colin Cowherd and the creative team at The Volume,” Sharpe said. “The Volume has built an amazing platform that is the right fit to help Shay Shay Media reach the next level. That includes developing new shows and bringing on new talent under the Shay Shay Media brand.”

Sharpe is reportedly nearing a deal to join Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s morning show, First Take, although nothing has been officially confirmed by the network. Sharpe teased an announcement about his future Tuesday night on X, saying that there would be announcements made Wednesday and Thursday.

Cowherd founded The Volume in 2021 and has various podcasts from former athletes, including Richard Sherman and Draymond Green. Last year, the network garnered 330 million downloads, leading Cowherd to estimate that his media venture is worth $100 million.

“There are very few people in sports media that cut through like Shannon Sharpe,” Cowherd said. “We are excited to partner with him and his team Shay Shay Media and co-produce original content with them.”
