With football season coming up, many in sports media are coming off of using the lull in the sports calendar to take some time away. Both Pat McAfee and ESPN host Mike Greenberg have taken summer vacations.
Greeny was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, and Pat asked Mike if fans should expect to see him every day on Get Up with the new NFL season getting ready to kick off.
“I’m back all the way through the season. I’ve barely been off,” Greenberg said to a couple groans by the rest of Pat’s crew. “After last year, when you got the entire world counting my days – thanks a lot for that – I have been paying some attention.”
“I think I’ve worked more days this summer than you have,” he added. That got a funny reaction out of McAfee. “It’s pretty close!”
Pat admitted they did take an extended summer break in July.
Greenberg said with the arrival of Aaron Rodgers to his beloved New York Jets and the team suddenly having the potential to make a playoff run, he couldn’t afford to not go on the air.
“You know how we do things,” he said. “You know how careful we are, how specific we are about the topics that we do. I never would’ve dreamt that I would live through a season in which the Jets are the biggest story. This is like a miracle has fallen in my lap. If you think I’m missing a day of this, you gotta be out of your mind!”
