710 WOR Celebrates Retirement of Joe Bartlett

After 37 years with the station, 710 WOR news director Joe Bartlett was celebrated as he stepped into retirement from the New York news/talker.

Members of the station’s air staff welcomed Bartlett to the legendary Patsy’s restaurant Thursday evening to wish Bartlett well.

“I loved my job and have been fortunate to have been part of this great station for all these years,” Bartlett said earlier this summer when he announced he would step away. “I could have gone on much longer, but the time had come when I just needed more free time. Sadly, this is not a job you can do only six months a year.”

Bartlett officially retired on Wednesday, May 31st. Earlier this week, 710 WOR announced that Larry Mendte would succeed Bartlett as the station’s news director and morning news anchor. In his role, Mendte will keep the same schedule Bartlett did, anchoring news updates during Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning as well as The Mark Simone Show.
