KWAM Scores Best Large Market News Coverage From Tennessee Association Broadcasters

KWAM The Mighty 990 scored a pair of wins from the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Awards earlier this week.

In the event held at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, the Todd Starnes-owned station took home first place in the Large Market local news coverage category. Ben Deeter, Caleb Parke, Grace Baker, and Earle Farrell won the award for the station’s coverage of the 2022 mass shooting in Memphis.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team and this award,” said KWAM owner Todd Starnes. “We work very hard to be the place where Memphis goes for breaking news.”

Additionally, the station finished second in the Public Service category.

It marks the second major accomplishment by the station this year. Earlier, KWAM was awarded a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
