Craig Way Launches New Show on 1300 The Zone

The voice of the Texas Longhorns is back hosting locally on Austin radio.

Craig Way began hosting The Craig Way Show on Am 1300 The Zone on Monday. This comes after the former rightsholder to Texas athletics – The Horn – dropped an FM frequency on 104.9 on August 1 and later parted ways with several local talent in a shift towards more syndicated programming.

The iHeart station announced the program would air 2-4 p.m. central Monday through Friday. The move to The Zone makes sense as in all the fallout with The Horn, iHeart Austin picked up the rights to Longhorn athletics once again.

“Every day from 2-4 p.m., he’ll be diving deep into UT sports, sharing insights only he can offer. It’s a new era for afternoon radio, and we couldn’t be prouder to bring this experience to our listeners,” said iHeartMedia Austin & San Antonio Senior Vice President of Programming Jason McCollim.

Craig will be very familiar to The Zone listeners. He said he’s excited to be back home.

“I was honored to be a part of the launch of AM 1300 The Zone as Austin’s first all-Sports station in October of 1998, and am thrilled to return as host of a daily show on The Zone once again at a station that I called home from 1997-2017,” Way said. “I am excited to once again be a part of the iHeart family.”
