Bleav is doing it again! This time, the company is going to the Pacific Coast and putting one of its shows on Bally Sports West.
The regional sports network will carry Bleav in Chargers and Bleav in Rams. The shows make their debut on Thursday.
Both shows are adding a boost of star power too. For the Chargers, the team’s radio play-by-play man and AM 570 afternoon host Matt “Money” Smith will join Lorenzo Neal each week to talk about the team. Torry Holt, a regular on Hall of Fame ballots in recent years, is scheduled to appear on the debut episode of Bleav in Rams.
“I just think, as a city, Los Angeles needs more football coverage,” Smith told Barrett Sports Media. “As I’m driving around the East Coast right now and you just think about what local TV looks like in New York and Boston and D.C. and Chicago and Detroit. When it’s NFL season, there are so many programs. You know, it’s hard to believe that you only play one game a week and yet the amount of content that’s broadcast is incredible. I just felt like this is a great opportunity to with the excitement surrounding the Chargers, the excitement surrounding Justin Herbert, it’s a chance to expand sort of what we’ve had in Los Angeles, coverage-wise when it comes to the NFL.”
That partnership between Bleav and Bally Sports West will put Smith back on TV with regularity for the first time since he left the NFL Network.
“I forgot how it’s almost a different audience, the people that listen to the pod or listen to the Chargers games or listen to Petros and Money, that there’s just a whole other audience out there that knows me as NFL Network’s Matt “Money” Smith from NFL Fantasy Live or NFL Now or NFL Draft coverage, Super Bowl coverage and maybe they’re not familiar with the other parts,” he said. “So yeah. In a weird way, TV does have an exclusive audience and you forget that when you go away.”
Bleav is continuing to push its regional TV partnership with the Bally Sports networks. Bally Sports Wisconsin will air the company’s Big Ten show. Last month, the two companies announced a sweeping deal to put seven Bleav shows on Bally Sports Ohio.
