Golden State Warriors guard and four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry will be hosting a new series with NBC Sports titled Niiice Shot with Stephen Curry, premiering on GOLF Channel next Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST. The four-part project in conjunction with Curry’s independent venture, Unanimous Media, will seek to recreate iconic shots from the sport over the years. It will include appearances by Curry’s former Warriors teammate, forward Andre Iguodala, 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champion Michelle Wie West and swing coach Alex Riggs. Four-time major champion golfer Rory McIlroy will also join Curry to share his insights and advise him how to best complete the challenge.
While Curry may be known for his prowess on the basketball court, officially holding the National Basketball Association record for most career three-point shots made, he is also an adept golfer. Curry won the annual American Century Championship this past summer from Lake Tahoe in Nevada, a winning run that included a dramatic hole-in-one shot that caught the attention of sports fans worldwide. In the new series, he will attempt to duplicate shots from McIlroy, along with Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth, that took place at various tournaments over the years.
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with NBCUniversal and bring Niiice Shot to GOLF Channel,” Unanimous Media said in a statement. “We thank Andre Igudoala, Michelle Wie West, Alex Riggs and Rory McIlroy for helping us attempt some of the most iconic golf shots in the past 20 years. A show for golf enthusiasts and novices alike, we hope it inspires audiences to get out on the course and try to recreate some of these shots themselves.”
The program will be produced by Whitney Welch of Unanimous Media and Danny Lee of CALICO, bringing an idea from Curry and Chief Creative Officer Erick Payton to life. All episodes of the program will be televised on the GOLF Channel; however, the third episode featuring Rory McIlroy’s fairway hole-out will premiere at 2 p.m. EST/11 a.m. PST on Sunday, Sept. 24 on NBC. Curry and Peyton’s multimedia company signed a multi-year global talent partnerships agreement with Comcast NBCUniversal in 2021 and also released a film, Stephen Curry: Underrated, about the guard’s basketball ascension while at Davidson College. The vertical also produced the documentary, The Queen of Basketball, along with the hit ABC family program Holey Moley.
“We’re excited to showcase Niiice Shot and bring Stephen Curry and his golf affinity to our GOLF Channel viewers,” Tom Knapp, executive vice president of golf at NBC Sports, said in a statement. “Golfers of every level imagine themselves replicating memorable moments from the game’s biggest stars, and viewers will certainly be able to relate to Stephen, Andre Iguodala and Michelle Wie West as they try their hand at these iconic shots.”
