On September 11th, 1973, a military coup overthrew the government of Chile. MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan shared that the United States — namely Henry Kissinger — helped overthrow that government. 93.1 WIBC host Tony Katz called the insinuation disgusting.
During The Mehdi Hasan Show, the MSNBC host argued that the fact that Kissinger is still celebrated is “one of the great injustices and outrages of our time”.
“Members of our political and media elite adore him,” Hasan said. “This year may be Chile’s anniversary of 9/11, but it’s also the year of Henry Kissinger’s 100th birthday, which he celebrated in May, and in which numerous politicians and business leaders showed up.”
After Hasan posted a video of his commentary to X, formerly Twitter, Katz responded negatively.
“That Medhi (sic) Hasan doesn’t understand that this is disgusting is exactly the problem with Medhi (sic) Hasan and MSNBC,” Katz wrote.
